چکیده

Abstract Brown planthopper (BPH) Nilaparvata lugens Stall is a major pest of rice that often causes outbreaks in several production centers Indonesia. The use insecticides still the choice farmers to control attacks due weak mitigation efforts an area. Continuous can increase resistance and resurgence BPH. purpose this study was determine level sensitivity BPH population pimetrozine insecticide. research conducted at Assesment Research Instalation Agricultural Technology Ungaran, Institute Central Java, Semarang Regency, Indonesia from October 2019 June 2020. collected five regions, namely Jaten Bolong Districts, Sukoharo District, Bendosari, Mojolaban Pulokarto Karanganyar District. method test carried out according IRAC number 005. Observations were made on percentage mortality. data processed using Probit analysis LC 50 value. value used factor (RF). results showed most sensitive insecticide pymetrozine with 13.44 ppm. populations Jaten, Bolong, not resistant RF ≤4. Sukoharjo 2.47 has potential become more pymetrozine. It necessary periodically monitor areas prevent further development.

The insecticide pymetrozine selectively affects chordotonal mechanoreceptors.

Pymetrozine is a neuroactive insecticide but its site of action in the nervous system is unknown. Based on previous studies of symptoms in the locust, the feedback loop controlling the femur-tibia joint of the middle leg was chosen to examine possible targets of the insecticide. The femoral chordotonal organ, which monitors joint position and movement, turned out to be the primary site of pymet...

Electrical penetration graph evidence that pymetrozine toxicity to the rice brown planthopper is by inhibition of phloem feeding.

BACKGROUND Pymetrozine is a valuable novel insecticide for control of sucking insects, including the brown planthopper Nilaparvata lugens (Stål), one of the most serious pests on rice. This study was conducted to elucidate the action mechanisms of pymetrozine on the feeding behaviour of the planthopper. RESULTS The activity test showed that pymetrozine primarily functioned as an antifeedant t...

Selection of Beauveria Isolates Pathogenic to Adults of Nilaparvata lugens

The brown planthopper, Nilaparvata lugens Stål (Hemiptera: Delphacidae), is a destructive invasive pest and has become one of the most economically-important rice pests in China. Effective control measures are desperately needed. Entomopathogenic fungi, such as Beauveria bassiana (Balsamo-Crivelli) Vuillemin (Hypocreales: Clavicipitaceae) and B. brongniartii (Saccardo), have shown great potenti...

Characterization of soluble and membrane-bound alkaline phosphatase in Nilaparvata lugens and their potential relation to development and insecticide resistance.

Two forms (soluble and membrane-bound) of alkaline phosphatases (ALPs) were found in the brown planthopper, Nilaparvata lugens. In order to further study ALPs in N. lugens, two putative ALP genes (Nl-ALP1 and Nl-ALP2) were identified in this pest. Both Nl-ALP1 and Nl-ALP2 show approximately the same degree of sequence identity (40-50%) to other insect soluble and membrane-bound forms of ALP. Co...

Differential glycosylation produces heterogeneity in elevated esterases associated with insecticide resistance in the brown planthopper Nilaparvata lugens Stål.

The major insecticide resistance mechanism in the brown planthopper Nilaparvata lugens involves overproduction of esterases. Esterases purified from a resistant strain appeared as a ladder of bands on isoelectric focussing (IEF) gels from pI 4.7 to 5.0. Two-dimensional electrophoresis showed that isozymes ranged in size from 66 to 68 kDa with those of lower pI being apparently smaller. All isoz...
